As I write this caption - on the 8th of August 2024 - our wonderful son Maximus has been suffering with intense tics from his Tourettes for a few weeks. He gets very little respite during the day and his body is exhausted and sore. He is - very understandably - frustrated often and without the ability to clearly communicate with words, he does quite a lot of shouting to vent the pent up energy. 
 
He called this painting Loud and I feel very much like this is a visual representation of how he often feels within his body and mind during these tough phases. 
 
As usual, the use of colour is magnetic and stimulating and I love the delicacy and focus of these choices of small marks within vibrant stripes.
