Most of the time our Maximus mixes his colours in pots and palettes, but sometimes he mixes directly onto the canvas, like with this beautiful, mossy green in the background for this darling little painting. 
 
As usual, the textures are inviting close-up gazing and a curious hand to explore the surface.
 
The egg shape he created is brilliant isn't it? I don't know if he set out to paint this shape of if it was a happy accident of the journey of the mark on the canvas but once he'd done that striking orange he immediately knew he wanted yellow next and exactly the swirl he wanted to place next within that lovely loop.
 
It's shape and colours are warming and comforting - perfect for cosy Autumn.
